Oblivion Island: Haruka and the Magic Mirror will start off the Saturday Film Room lineup for Minicon 49 at 10:00am on April 19, 2014. This G-rated anime film has been shown at the New York International Children's Film Festival, Walker Art Center, the Dallas International Film Festival, and the Newport Beach Film Festival.

Haruka, a 16-year old girl, is on a mission to find her lost mirror — a precious childhood gift from her late mother. On her search, she follows a strange creature to the mystical world of Oblivion Island, which contains once-cherished items taken from their neglectful owners. Oblivion Island is ruled by the Baron, who oversees the island in his extravagant airship. Yep, this film has a tie-in to Minicon 49's theme of Pirates and Airships.

Looks great! The odds are very much against me being alert and up at 10 in the morning at Minicon, but if I am, I'll go!
